Online content provider EveryMatrix has recently acquired Gaming Innovation Group’s former content studio, which will now begin to operate as a subsidiary of the supplier while running under the brand of Spearhead Studios. The Spain-based studio was bought recently from gaming Innovation Group and is currently being lead by Mathias Larrson, who is the former managing director of GIG Games. GIG had announced earlier in the year in September that it had decided tos top investments into its proprietary game studio, instead opting to focus its attention on other business segments. More details concerning the acquisition have yet to be made available to the public.
Spearhead Studios’ operational capabilities consist of game concept design, along with JavaScript game development, animation, UI design, audio creation, gameplay testing, certification, and digital artist production.
GIG first opened the studio in 2017, but eventually cut the studio’s funding for the vertical in September, as they wanted to focus on strategic areas instead. At the time the funding was cut, all 25 people that were employed by GIG Games have since received their termination packages as part of the closure. Spearhead Studios’ team had created Book of Souls which saw over 20 million game rounds for the first 10 months after launch. Plans for their next period of production includes completing multiple video slot games, along with the release of a number of table games that include the likes of both online Blackjack and Roulette, but release dates have not been announced.
