Entire gambling meccas like Las Vegas and Macau are shutting down due to the coronavirus COVID-19 contagion, leading to hundreds of millions of lost revenue. But leading slot machine developer Aristocrat has stated that it’s ready to tackle the issue directly.
The company recently released a statement designed to allay investors’ fears that the company will be caught up in the revenue plummet that other companies are experiencing. While the notice does recognise that a softer market will certainly cause a dip in income, the firm asserts that it has long been prepared for a calamity like this and its business model and operational guidance will step in to save the day.
This should by no means indicate that Aristocrat is taking the pandemic lightly. Travel bans have been implemented and social distancing measures for employees are in place across all of its operations. The statement revealed that almost 80% of their staff are now working from home.
Along with its ability to remain stable in the wake of COVID-19, Aristocrat explained that the diversity of its operations serves to add to their strength and flexibility. They stated that, over the financial year for 2019, digital games delivered more than 40% of their revenue, with land-based operations and outright sales adding the remaining 30% each.
Their operations have also been spread to cover the most important global and regional markets. Both branches of their work, online and land-based, include businesses which address a far broader range of genres and segments than ever before.
