Excitement Builds For 2017 EGR Awards
The annual EGR Operator awards have become a much-loved tradition in the Industry and a great indicator of the who’s who, not only of the year past, but the year ahead. The event is to be held on the 26th of October this year at Grosvenor House in London, a great location for the 800 or more members of the gaming industry who will be converging there.
This evening will be dedicated to notable figures and companies who have shown great business sense, design intuition or any other traits that have lead to standout performances. The shortlist of nominees for the evening was released on the 7th of September.
Notable categories at the awards include the Rising Star award that honours new online casinos or developers, the coveted Casino Operator and Sports Betting Operator of the Year award as well as the Socially Responsible Operator award.
This year will also see the inclusion of two new categories, the Fantasy Sports category in recognition of the massive growth in this particular sector of the industry as well as the Football Betting Operator award, again in recognition of a fast growing industry sector.
The Most Coveted Categories
With 30 categories to compete for, most people are looking forward to hearing who takes away the coveted Game of the Year award. Play ‘n Go’s Viking Runecraft is a strong contender this year with the massive buzz it has generated amongst fans and critics alike.
Fans will also be looking out for the Operator of the Year award, which can make a massive impact on an online casino’s revenue as new players usually flock to the winner of this award. Judges Set to Decide Winners
There is a relatively standard peer reviewed selection process for the awards where a panel of experts suggest and debate which industry players deserve recognition but where the EGR awards really stand out is with what happens after nominations have been revealed.
From here the nominees will be facing one final process of elimination by the panel of judges themselves and in person. Nominees will be meeting at the Athenaeum Hotel in London on the 28th of September to make a 5 minute presentation to the judges who will then make their final verdicts and reveal the winners on the night of the awards ceremony. The evening takes place on the 26th of October.
