Spain Prepares For Yggdrasil Launch

Yggdrasil has partnered with the GVC Group and will soon be making headway into the Spanish online gaming market. This is another great stride for the slot developer who has been flexing their muscle all over Europe’s licensed gaming markets. Thanks in no small part to the quality content they have been producing, Yggdrasil has seen their foot print reach to Italy and their neighbouring Denmark.

Yggdrasil titles will be available from the 2nd Quarter onwards in Spain and GVC is certainly very excited at the prospect. Spain has seen a market boom recently and operators have been itching to expand their offerings to secure a bigger share of this fast growing market.

We may be seeing a California gold rush type situation in the country soon as they have published their 2017 financials and it is looking good. With a gaming revenue spike of over 38% in the 4th quarter alone, Spain has earmarked itself as the fastest growing gaming market at the moment.

The country saw a gaming income of  €173 000 000 in the last three months of 2017. Frederik Elmqvist , CEO of Yggdrasil cited the sudden growth as a large reason for their new deal with GVC. It serves both companies to enter this new market with full steam. Elmqvist also noted that the special promotional software that operator receive with their Yggdrasil software package is key in helping them spread the word of their casinos, making a partnership with Yggdrasil a match made in heaven.

GVC said in a statement from Head of Content Commercials, Andy Whitworth, that their long standing relationship with Yggdrasil has show that their content has delivered proven results so it was with full confidence that they partnered with the developer in their first foray into Spain.

Yggdrasil themselves have also posted stunning financial results in 2017. They showed an overall revenue increase of over 60% in the fourth quarter. This growth was surely driven by their 11 new networked titles that they released for operators, along with some exclusive titles and 40 new licensing agreements.

The expansion into the Italian and Denmark markets certainly helped with their revenue drive as well. The last 12 months have certainly been a rollercoaster for Yggdrasil but of course now the pressure is on to keep delivering quality content. We have yet to see a serious misstep form the developer so here is hoping that their output keeps living up to their brand name.
