PokerStars, the biggest online Poker room in the world, responsible for hosting the largest tournaments anywhere online, has announced that three of its upcoming European events have been put off. This is due to concerns regarding the spread of coronavirus.
The games were scheduled to take place in France, Germany, and Spain, as part of the operators’ Road to PSPC tournament, and no new dates have been confirmed for them.
In a statement published on its official website, PokerStars said that, in light of their many sponsored live events coming up all over the globe, they wanted to clarify their position on the coronavirus. They declared that they are observing the spread of COVID-19 and working alongside the casinos hosting the events they sponsor to make sure they are up-to-speed with the most recent developments.
The statement went on to say that any players who have qualified at PokerStars online to appear at the events being rescheduled will be personally contacted for assistance regarding their seats being transferred to future tournaments.
All other events, outside of Europe, will continue as planned and remain unaffected.
PokerStars described the situation as a highly dynamic one and said that, as live tournaments form a large part of their offering, their goal is to balance players’ desires with the protection of those attending to act in the most responsible way. The firm let it be known that each event will be reviewed on its own basis and that it is being kept updated with news on the most recent developments alongside its casino partners.
