Scientific Games announced a year-on-year increase in net sales for the third quarter after seeing success across all business areas. Net revenue for three months to September 30, 2019 was $855 m (£ 667.0m/€773.9 m), relative with $821 m in the corresponding period last year. Gaming was the main source of revenue for Scientific Games in the third quarter, taking $454 m in aggregate, up 1% year-on-year from $448 m in 2018. Scientific Games reported a 10 percent spike in new gaming machine revenues in the U.S. and Canada, while income from gaming systems increased due to growing repair and service revenue from existing systems. Table goods sales also increased year-on-year to $60 m in Q3.
Scientific Games also experienced growth in its lottery division, with revenue rising 6% to $220 m. This was helped by multiple long-term contracts, such as the company being selected to provide instant win and retail equipment to the new Turkish national lottery operators, Sisal-Sans Digital, and as Sisal’s sole terminal hardware partner in Italy.
Elsewhere, online revenue rose 7 percent to $65 m, with Scientific Games showcasing the popularity of its end-to-end sports betting software range. SciPlay, the former social games division of Scientific Gaming that began trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market as part of its initial public offering in May, announced a year-on-year increase in revenue to $116 m. This was powered by increased monetisation of paying players. Operating costs are down 30.6 percent year-on-year from $1.03bn to $712 m in spending.
