Online gaming operator Global Gaming has failed to overturn a decision to have its SafeEnt Subsidiary licence taken away after the country’s Supreme Administrative Court had rejected an appeal for injunctive relief. SafeEnt, which operates the Ninja Casino, had its licences for commercial online gaming revoked by regulator Spelinspektionen earlier this year in June due to serious deficiencies. These were related to failings to address responsible gaming along with anti money laundering measures.
The operator had filed for an appeal against the decision with the Administrative Court, and said that the punishment was disproportionate, adding that decision lacks support in their gaming law. They also stated that they had complied with all of the requirements of obtaining and retaining the licence.
Despite this, an appeal for temporary relief from the regulatory body to allow it to continue operating within the country while the main appeal is heard has since been rejected by the Supreme Court. Global Gaming also noted that the Court had rejected its appeal for injunctive relief without giving any explanation, and the operator will now have to focus on the judicial review of the original ruling.
The Administrative Court in Linkoping had also previously rejected a request from the operator to suspend a ruling while the main appeal was still under review. Global Gaming then failed in a bid to overturn this ruling. Despite being unable to operate the SafeEnt subsidiary within the country, they have remained in partnership with Finnplay.
