iGaming operator BetVictor has announced the appointment of Luke Alvarez as the new chairman. Alvarez is the founder and former chief executive of Inspired Entertainment, and will be taking up his new role on the 1st of December this year. He has been tasked with helping enhance the customer protection for the operator, as well as the compliance and regulatory programmes. He will also be putting input into the operator’s future growth plans.
His joining of BetVictor also marks his leaving of Inspired Entertainment after 16 years. He originally founded his business in 2002, and turned the fledging company into a major gaming supplier, as well as a leader in the virtual sports market. The company was initially sold to a private equity investor Vitruvian Partners in 2010, and was then acquired by Hydra Industries in a 2016 deal.
Alvarez was also a co-founder and non-executive director of Gmatica, a network gaming concessionaire that was based in Italian, as well as serving as a director in The Cloud, an open Wi-Fi provider that was stationed in Europe. BetVictor has said that Alvarez was appointed to his position at a time when the company was enjoying strong growth, which they state has been driven by investments into their mobile sportsbooks.
Andreas Minrad, chief executive of BetVictor, told reporters that they are delighted to be welcoming Alvarez into the company, and that it’s been an important time for the operator as they expand and evolve.
