Online operator ComeOn hopes that its already existing presence in the Swedish gaming market will prove advantageous as the operator prepares to launch its services after Sweden’s re-regulation of their online gaming policies.
ComeOn, who is a subsidiary of Cherry, will be following its parent company by applying for a gambling licence within Sweden. This will add to the seven other markets that the operator is already entrenched in, including licences in Malta, the UK, Schleswig-Holstein, and a sports betting licence in Poland.
The Swedish re-regulation saw big changes for the country’s gaming market, and once the announcement was made, 22 operators applied for licences within the first day alone, and dozens more since. ComeOn, as the subsidiary of a company who has been stationed in the country for more than 50 years, and has headquarters in Stockholm, hopes that their well-known presence will give them the advantage over their many competitors.
ComeOn was bought out by Cherry in 2016, appointed Lahcene Merzoug as the new managing director for the company earlier in this year, with the hope that the former Mr Green executive would help with their European expansion plans. A Cherry spokesman told reporters that the company hopes that their recent experience with acquiring a licence in Poland would help them with the process in Sweden.
Sweden’s re-regulation will see a new “green environment” for online gaming, and has set the opening date to allow services to begin for the start of next year.
